Items for Sale

| | Comments (0)

I've got 2 items for sale up on eBay this week:

- The first is a 3 pack of Canon ink jet cartridges. I had these left over from when I bought my new printer last week. They have never been used and are still in the vacuum packed containers.

- The second is a lawn mower. That's right. This baby could be yours for less than $10, as long as you are willing to come to Hollidaysburg to pick it up!

Rest In Peace - Mimi

|

My Grandmother Shanafelt (Mimi) passed away today. She was 92, and these past couple of years haven't been too good to her, so it really is a blessing. I'll always remember her as being my older, somewhat battier grandmother. Dan & I were the youngest grandchildren (out of at least 10) on that side of the family, so she and her husband were tired by the time we came along. Probably the funniest thing I'll remember is when grandpa, Dan, & I went to the grocery store to get ice cream. We ended up getting the store brand, and when we returned home, Mimi quickly replied "I wouldn't feed this to our dog" and then proceeded to scoop out big servings to Dan & I. I know that is a bad thing to remember, but it really isn't meant to be negative, I just found it humorous.

But she certainly made the best lemon meringue pie I've ever tasted and she made it each time we came to visit...

Ethan has been sick this weekend. Today was a lot better than yesterday, so he is getting better. I think it was a bad reaction to his shots that he got on Friday. Dad came down yesterday and fixed the window on the Neon (Thanks!) And we found out today that our airconditioner was leaking water in the attic. The water managed to work its way down to our light in the upstairs hallway. Somehow the PVC pipe worked itself loose at one of the elbow joints in the attic, thus causing the leak. Hopefully everything is fixed now and we caught it in time before any major damage was accomplished.

Finally, Colleen's team won their semi-final game today, so it is off to the finals on Tuesday at 7:00! Good luck!

One step forward, Two steps back

It seems that once I get excited about technology, something comes along that totally ruins my faith in our scientists. For instance, I just purchased an HP Photosmart 7350 printer. It does all types of fancy tasks including: slots for every type of flash memory card; prints at a very high resolution, and printing envelopes in a very straight-forward manner.

However, the AC adapter for this thing is literally larger than my hand. Which means that I had to run a Chinese firedrill under my desk in order to find the exact combination of plugs and power strips that would let me plug in all of my peripherals!

Why is everything getting smaller other than AC adapters? Why isn't there more of a public outcry? Does everyone other than me have an unlimited number of outlets under his/her desk?

Back from Pittsburgh

We had an enjoyable weekend in Pittsburgh. Ethan appeared to have a good time at the Phipps Conservatory . They had a butterfly room, and he seemed to really enjoy watching them fly. Looks like we may a botanist on our hands.

After that, we visited Ann Marie & Jim in the North Hills. Ethan got a little fussy there for a while, but did OK once we got in the car and headed for the family reunion in Beaver Falls. Have to go pick up the dogs once work is over today, and then it is back to work on the house.

Off to the City

It has been a while since I've written here. Mainly because Colleen bought me Industry Giant II for my birthday, and I've pretty much been addicted to it all week. Overall, this if the first "Sim" game in a long time that I've been hooked too. There is so much more to it than SimCity, although the graphics aren't nearly as good. The gameplay is great, and you really have to think the whole time to do well.

Once I finish writing this up, I'll be taking the dogs tot he kennel and the rest of us are heading to Pittsburgh for the weekend. I had a free hotel night coming thanks to my Priority Club credit card, and since my Mom's family reunion is tomorrow at 5:00, we thought we would make a weekend of it.

We went to the Tour De Toona on Thursday to watch the Hollidaysburg road race. I've always enjoyed watching bike races, and this one proved no different. It had a good finish, with the breakaway group being caught in the last 3 miles of the race.
