Stored here for future reference (even though I'm not sure if it will fix the problem or not). My PC is not recoginizing (in Windows or otherwise) that I plug my iPod in. I'm getting a "USB Device Not Recognized" error within Windows when I plug in the iPod.:
If your Microsoft Windows-compatible laptop or portable computer is configured to conserve power by turning off power on the USB bus, it might not recognize a connected iPod. To resolve this issue, turn USB bus power back on by doing the following:
1. On the Start menu, click Control Panel.
2. Double-click the System icon.
3. Click the Hardware tab.
4. Click Device Manager.
5. Scroll down the list of devices to the Universal Serial Bus controllers
6. Click the plus (+) icon next to the Universal Serial Bus controllers.
7. Double-click one of the indented USB Root Hub entries.
8. Click the Power Management tab.
9. Deselect the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option.
10. Click the OK button at the bottom of the window.
11. Restart the computer.
Update: Problem ended up being a bad USB cord. I returned the cord to Apple and they sent me a new one.
Check out Google Transit. Surpisingly, Pittsburgh is one of the first six cities covered. I could have used this a few weeks ago when I took the bus from Oakland to get downtown. Unfortunately, I hoped on the one bus that went to Oakland, bypassed downtown, and ended up somewhere beyond the netherworld of the Liberty Tunnel.

A state-by-state list of Steelers Bars
I was quite surprised a few days ago when I checked out the database that I have for the list of C&O Canal waypoints and found that I had been hit with over 200 SPAM postings. I'm not quite sure what the benefit to the spammers is to hitting that site, but it has been quite annoying.
Since I pretty much have all the coordinates anyway, I've locked the database to prevent any more updates.
